Wellington here we come.

Hi Everyone,
Guess what? We entered a competition ( All we had to do was send in a photo of our class. We've included two of them.) to win a $1 per person flight to Wellington and we were one of the 14 winners! So all 23 of us plus 6 adults are going. Air New Zealand's Jacqui Beaver is organizing the competition and she rang us today to tell us we are going on Monday 7th of December. It's very exciting but we have to be up early as our plane leaves at 6.ooam! We get to go to Te Papa and the Beehive and possibly a couple of other places as well. Aren't we the luckiest class? We will keep you updated as we learn more. At present, we are trying to learn all we can about Wellington. We know Wellington is New Zealand's capital city and that our government is there. Any information from anyone out there will be welcome.
That's all for now.

I hope you enjoy your visit to Wellington and learn heaps. I also hope you can get to have a video confrence some day. From Seini-Mino at Point England School.

Hi room7,
It's great to hear that you are going to Te Papa on December the 7th.
and waking up at 6'o'clock!!!! that's sure is hard because I wake up at 6:30 am.I have learnt that pompeii was a city that was destroyed by a volcano called Mt versuvius and a heap of ash crashed the city and made pollution in the air and rocks covered up the place and completely coverered Pompeii which was in Italy and the city of pompeii was never heard of again. We could have a Video Conference with you but Carol Anne set this whole thing up for us.
We could tell some more information.
Keep up the good work.
God Bless.

Hi Room 7!
Yes you ARE the luckiest class! It's so cool that you get to go Te Papa! We saw your comment on the blog and decided to post you a comment. We've learned quite a lot about earthquakes, the dinosaur's extinction, tsunamis and volcsno eruptions. There was heaps of things to remember. The two things that I remember the most is :The Romans who used to live in Pompeii could have likely been the same Romans we read about in the Bible. The second thing is that they used to believe in many gods, like Zeus, Vulcan and many others. They believed that Vulcan controlled things like volcanoes. Interesting aye!

Bye

Hi Glenbrae,

I am Selena from Pt England School Extension and I have heard that you Said that you are going down to Te Papa and I know a lot about Te Papa because we have talked with a man called Hamish Campbell. I have two facts to share with you about Pompeii. The first one is: When Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD the dust from Mount Vesuvius covered the whole city and the city of Pompeii was lost and forgotten until some men dug up the whole city.
The second fact is : Pompeii was a city filled with roman people and they believed in other gods like Zeus.

Well that is all the information I have for you.
P.S
We would like to ask you if you would like to Video confrense with us. Just tell us by posting a comment on omy blog.

Bye.

Hi Room 7,

Congratulations in winning the photo competition. What a neat prize for the whole class. How long will you be in Wellington for? A day? or over night?
My favourite places to visit in Wellington are Te Papa, the Government Building (the Beehive), the Cable Car at Lambton Quay and the Zoo. One fact I know about Wellington is that it can get quite windy, with the weather, but that is mainly in winter time.

Enjoy your time in Wellington. Have a great flight and enjoy those Air New Zealand lollies.

Wow, Room 7!

You are so lucky - congratulations on your exciting win!

What are you going to do when you get to Wellington? We have been learning about New Zealand and know that the Beehive is there so maybe you'll get to see John Key!

Enjoy your trip and let us know how you get on.
