Glenbrae School Sundial
Thank you everyone for your comments. Here is the sundial in action. You stand on the month, hold your arms above your head and where the shadow falls, is the time. The time shown here is 5.50pm. The sundial time is very accurate. The two rows of numbers are so we can tell the time in ordinary time and during daylight saving time.
This young man is one of the 'Random Act of Kindness' volunteers. He is about 12 years old. He carried lots of the heavy tiles to the site from Room 12 (about 120mtrs away)and helped lay concrete pads for them to sit on. The workers had to be very careful to ensure the tiles were the same height. Tomorrow the concrete will be laid around the tiles.

Glenbrae School Mosaic Making
We had to make mosaic tiles for the Human Sundial that is part of our makeover. It was tricky to get the right amount of adhesive on the piece of tile and to get it stuck in the right place. I think we might be the only school in Auckland to have a human sundial. There is one in the children's garden at the Botanic Gardens in Manurewa.
Glenbrae School Random Act of Kindness Makeover
Hi Everyone,
Here are three photos that I took today at school. This is the prep day for Glenbrae's makeover. We are so so so lucky that Tamaki Primary gifted this to us and we are so grateful to the Life Church for making it possible. It was astounding to see all the volunteers at school today, working hard to make Glenbrae School an even more wonderful place to learn. Everyone is welcome next Saturday, from 10 am to 2.pm, to celebrate our new look with us . Students were not allowed to be at Glenbrae today because of the dangerous machinery operating so I have posted these photos on Room 7's behalf.
They will write their responses next week.

Can you hear what they are saying? I'm pretty sure they are having a great time but maybe they need to learn to take turns at speaking! These boys had amazing fun and competed fairly in all their races. Playing fairly is one of our goals in our Active Schools learning. Now can they write really well about this event? YES of course they can.
Backstroke Style
Hi Everyone. check out the backstroke style of Vaivasa and Ashleigh. They are both able to easily last the whole length. Way to go girls.

Room 7
We looked at a new site that Mrs Burt put up on her blog. She talked about a new 'Wordle' type programme so we decided to give it a go with our class 'Requirements for Learning' list and this is what came up. We like that it shows learning, brain, book and willingness as main requirements in Room 7. We might change our list to make a few other words more important. Here is the link to that site. Hope it works for you too. Thanks for the link Mrs Burt.
